Celluloid

Time had taken its toll on the old film, but the close up on the woman’s face had been clear enough. My mom had pictures of all the family ancestry along the stairway wall at home. The calm smile in the picture was stark contrast to the look of crazed lust in the film, but the face of my great-grandmother -the face everyone said I looked just like – was unmistakeable, as was the face of my great-grandfather looking over the frantic copulation.

The horned figure fucked the woman hard, brutally, and she held herself open to him, screaming silently in the film. His cock was hard to see, but the few glimpses caught on film showed it to be a bloated, monstrous, inhuman thing, plunging into too small an opening again and again.

Until it came. The climax was telegraphed, obvious. The devilish man arched back and howled, barbed tail straightening, buttocks pressing in and clenching. Despite it being a silent film, I heard it crystal clear in my imagination when my great-grandmother screamed, neck craning back, eyes wide, shuddering again and again.

And then, mid climax, every head in the frame turned to face the camera. No. Not the camera. They turned to face me. Through the film. Through the decades. The eyes of the Devil and his concubine clear and alive.

My blood ran cold, yet my body was hot.

The frame went black, and then glared white as the film ran out. The tail end of the film flapping loose in the spinning reel startled me, but the red-tinged, taloned hand that stilled the reel made me want to scream. A second hand, smooth and hot pressed gently against my lips and I couldn’t make a sound.

Apollyon smiled at me.

Monocle

I am the little devil on your shoulder, stroking your neck with my tail, whispering obscenities into your ear, and looking down your blouse. One third of The Erotic Writer blog.
