I’m wondering why you changed this. I like both versions, but I may like this one a little better….

Because argument lacked flavor. It could be serious or it might not be.

A spat though, is a “petty quarrel, dispute or dissension”. So you know that like many disagreements between lovers, it’s trivial; but even after making love to each other they’ll be damned if they let it go because — you know — we’re ridiculous. I wanted the bottom line to be that they loved each other, not that they were arguing. Lovers argue, have spats, but having someone to tangle with who will love you like nobody else anyway is called a beautiful marriage. Our lovers tolerate us, let us be ourselves, and forgive us for being ourselves—as long you know who’s always right.
