La petite mort

That
moment

when —

after
you have
tried
to escape and
I
have
pulled you naked

by
the ankles,
the
wrists,
or
by your hair
back

to me again and back

again;

when

I
must
though
you sweat
and
shiver like a caged bird;

when
you know I

must

and
you know you

must

give yourself to me  —

that
instant

when

you
stop breathing

when
the
shocked
angel inside
you

suddenly

gasps,
shudders,
and flutters out
for
an instant and is — free —

but

for
the kiss
that
persuades
so much confusion

to
return

to you
and

me.

Thanks Harper. I searched and searched through my collection for a good image. Finally settled on this one. It wasn’t what I was looking for but turned out much better than what I had in mind. I do wish I knew whose photos these were, so I could credit them. I also wonder what it must be like to be the woman in the photo, and whether she’ll ever stumble across this, and if she’ll like it?
