One hundred words of flash Twitterfiction, inspired by distance.

Too long apart.
It agitates, inflames.
It draws snarls where there should be greetings,
whines where there should be questions.

At the airport
it’s one fleeting kiss
that we break before our mouths
and then bodies fuse then and there.

The arc of electricity
stings our parted lips as we draw apart.

We barely touch on the walk to the car,
barely speak during the drive,
the scent of ozone and want
filling the small space;
the rumble of thunder,
or a mad stampede approaching
as the final turns bring us closer.

Lightning strikes as our door closes.

I’m Home.

building and building that anticipation to the climactic ending…alluded to, and left to our assorted, sordid, imaginings.

    Bravo.

    100 perfectly chosen words.
